in the Dept. of Neurophysiology at the Max-Planck-Institute for

University of München). Title of the thesis: "Release
of transmitter substance at the neuromuscular endplate: a criticism
and elaboration of the `Quantum Hypothesis`.

Since 1989 Research
on plasticity of the nervous system has been extended to the work
on the TRAINABILITY OF GAIT PATTERN AT THE SPINAL CORD LEVEL and
has involved the application of basic neurophysiology to the clinical
situation, with successful TRAINING OF WALKING IN PATIENTS WITH
SEVERE SPINAL CORD INJURIES ("LAUFBAND"-THERAPIE). This
work was started in cooperation with Prof. Harms and Chief Therapist
Sabine Mueller, Rehabilitation Clinic Langensteinbach (KKL). Since
then involved in several rehabilitation programs for restitution
