Entry requirements

Educational background

The program is open to both domestic and international students. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in biology, psychology, medicine, physics or related fields with outstanding grades and/or other study results.

A solid basic knowledge in the following fields is required: general cell biology, basics of chemistry and biochemistry, physics and math.

Applications are welcome even if the required degree has not been awarded by the time of application as long as this will be conferred before courses start in October. You have to send in a proof that you will finish your studies before the start of the MSc Program.

 Language requirements

English knowledge: An English proficiency certificate is mandatory for application. English as first language or paper TOEFL min. 550, or PC TOEFL min. 213, internet TOEFL (iBT) min. 79, respectively or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (e.g. a proven longer stay in an English speaking country). The test must have been completed not more than two years before the course starts. English as medium of instruction is not sufficient.

Without one of the aforementioned official proves of your English level, your application will be declared as 'incomplete' and will not be considered for evaluation. By the given deadline, you need to provide a copy of your English certificate or proof of registration to the exam if you take the exam after MSc Neurosciences application deadline. In the second case, please note that you will have to transmit the language certificate by May 31st the latest.

Working knowledge of German is necessary for daily private activities, German courses are strongly recommended. 

 

Registration 

Application deadline for winter term 2017/2018 was on March 31st, 2017. Application period for the entrance examination (winter term 2018/2019) will be opened from January 2018.

 Applicants have to register online. Only online application will be accepted, paper application will be ignored. A valid email address is absolutely necessary for the overall application process. The application for the Master's Program in Neurosciences aims at giving us a first insight into your profile. This is the first step in your application process. During application you will be requested to submit your full records. Prospective candidates will then be requested by mail to sit a qualifying examination. This is the second step in your application process. Successful applicants will be chosen from among those candidates, who successfully complete the tests.

The entrance examination is accessible worldwide. Candidates can sit the test in their home countries in almost all of the cases. The examination for winter-term 2017/18 applicants is preliminarily scheduled for May 2017.
