Registration: Applicants have to register online. A valid email address is absolutely necessary for the overall application process! The Application for the Master Program in Neurosciences aims at giving us a first insight into your profile. This is the first step in your application process. In the application you will be requested to submit your full records. Prospective candidates will then be requested by mail to sit a qualifying examination. This is the second step in your application process. The successful applicants will be chosen from among those candidates, who successfully complete the tests.
The entrance examination is accessible worldwide. Candidates can sit the test in their home countries in almost all of the cases. The examination for winter-term 2013/14 applicants will be held in may 2013.
The Deadline for applications for winter term 2013/2014 expired on march 31, 2013. Application period for the entrance examination (winter term 2014/2015) will be opened from January 2014; online application only, paper applications will not be accepted.
The documents listed below will be requested from you during the application process:
* Your CV
* Scanned transcripts of the Bachelor's Degree, transcript of the Master's Degree (if available) and respective diploma
* Proof of English knowledge (TOEFL, IELTS)
* Your letter of motivation
* Copy of your passport
Only complete online applications which have arrived at the coordination office by march 31th can be considered for admission. Selection and admission involve two steps: evaluation of online application and ONLY IN SOME CASES qualifying examination.
Entry requirements
The program is open to both national and international students. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in biology, psychology, medicine, physics, or related fields. Applications are welcome even if the required degree has not been awarded by the time of application as long as this will be conferred before courses start in October. You have to send in a proof that you will finish your studies before the start of the MSc Program.
English knowledge: English as first language OR paper TOEFL min. 550, or
PC TOEFL min. 213, internet TOEFL (iBT) min. 79, respectively or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (e.g. a proven longer stay in an English speaking country).
Working knowledge of German is necessary for daily private activities, German courses are strictly recommended.
Selection of students
According to your submitted documents a selection committee will inform you per Email until the end of april whether you will be invited to take part in the selective test in may. Thus a comprehensive application is necessary. After these test you will be informed whether you were selected.
Please note: There will be no refund of expenses for travelling to qualifying examination also not for successful candidates! The examination will ask for basic knowledge in chemistry, physics, statistics, biology, neurosciences, etc. We do not recommend any book chapters as the exam intends to check the applicants present knowledge.
