European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition


 The European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is an international scientific society in Europe founded 1968. More than 300 paediatric gastroenterologists and hepatologists as well as scientists are members of the society. ESPGHAN has promoted since 1968 medical and scientific knowledge in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Scientific annual meetings for the last 30 years have taken place in Europe and latterly in USA combined with the NASPGN (North American Society of Pediatric Gastroneterology and Nutrition). Several guidelines and working reports have been elaborated by committees of ESPGHAN to standardize nutrition for children in Europe and give compentent advice to doctors in Europe as to how to treat gastrointestinal disease of children. In addition the society promotes scientific exchange among research groups in Europe and traines young doctors and scientists in paeditric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition by summer schools, research fora and workshops.
  ESPGHAN and NASPGN edit an international scientific journal for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, where scientific articles, case reports and reviews are published, the: JOURNAL OF PEDIATRIC GASTROENTEROLOGY AND NUTRITION (Raven Press, New York)
