Cytotoxic chemotherapy remains the principal modality of treating advanced or unresectable sarcomas of soft tissue. Certain drugs, such as doxorubicin and ifosfamide, are able to induce clinically useful antitumor effects as single agents, and combination chemotherapy regimens have been tested based upon these results. This article summarizes the results of single agent and combination chemotherapy trials for soft tissue sarcomas. (123 Refs)
